Catalog parts are the building blocks upon which maps are created.  Sourcemap’s catalogs, accessible on the drop down menu, contain information on carbon footprints of various basic materials. Users create maps using catalog parts as building blocks, and provide weight information about each material to enable the carbon calculation.

How to Create a Sourcemap:
1. You must register to create a Sourcemap: http://www.sourcemap.org/auth/register
2. Click on “Make a New Sourcemap” under Sourcemaps –> Make a New Sourcemap
3. Follow the wizard.  Use catalog items as building blocks for your map.  You can also create your own custom catalog item.  If you see  a material that has it’s own map, use that map as a building block for your map.  This action automatically embeds that map within yours.
